Community Christmas Tree Lighting
The lighting of the 40-foot Christmas tree along New Hampshire Avenue occurs on the first Sunday of Advent (in November or early December each year). Members of the community and members of Saint Stephen join together to see the tree lit, sing carols, and enjoy refreshments. The tree brightens the neighborhood throughout the Christmas season.

Pancake Supper

Strawberry Concert

In June the Senior and Handbell Choirs present a lively concert that may include tunes from musicals and barbershop quartets, six-handed piano pieces, even tenors in dragon costumes! The Godsong Praise Team presents music from the Godsong worship service. Strawberries and ice cream are served after the concert.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School takes place in July in cooperation with four area congregations Saint Stephen Lutheran Church, Epiphany Lutheran Church, and Transfiguration and St. Mark’s Episcopal Churches. There are classes for children, youth, and adults each evening during the VBS week. All ages enjoy supper together before the activities begin.
St. Stephen's 50th Anniversary
Saint Stephen was organized as a mission congregation of Augustana Lutheran Church, Washington, D.C. The first worship service was held on September 28, 1958. In 2008 we will celebrate our 50th anniversary on Sunday, September 28th. On that day we will have a banquet to remember the past and a special worship service to celebrate in the present. At the same time we will focus on the future. As a missional congregation we ask "how is God calling us to serve this community for the next 50 years?"
Blessing of the Animals
Cats, dogs, rabbits, iguanas and other pets are welcomed at Saint Stephen in October for a blessing of the animals. Through this event we remember Saint Francis of Assisi (1182 1228) who was known for his love of animals and concern for the environment.
